Lucet Workshop

I teach a one day workshop designed to give students the knowledge and hand skills to go forward into Advanced Lucetting.

The lesson plan below is designed for ten people for the day.
Variations of this can be accommodated i.e. where there is greater demand I can split the day in two and teach fundamental and fast grab technique to ten people in the morning and another ten in the afternoon thereby ensuring that at least the essential and benchmark skills are acquired.

Fee for the day is £100.00 plus travelling expenses of 25 pence per mile by car.

The Lesson Plan


Time		Lesson	Detail	Outcome/Learning objectives

10:00am		Fundamental Stitch	How the stitch works in detail. Slow grab approach giving students time to digest method. Project one	Can be difficult but essential for knowledge of stitch structure.

10:45am		Fast Grab	Right hand technique to put control of thread in one hand and increase flow/speed fourfold. Project two	A benchmark technique for producing yardage of cord. With practice, two yards an hour.

12:15pm	Lunch - I would expect to be fed. Please :)

1:15pm		Overhand (front-to-back back-to-front) left hand technique	Greater control of the lucet in the left hand. Practice technique using frogging/beading project Project three	A technique that allows multi control of threads, bobbins and beads at the same time. Good for beading and frogging. Combined with fast grab, essential hand skill for Advanced Lucetting.

3:20pm		Wind down	Projects completed it is time for a demonstration by the tutor of Advanced Lucetting using the techniques students have learnt during the session. Questions	Time to consolidate learning and delve into the craft of Advanced Lucetting.

4:00pm	End of the day

Price for other forms of transport for long distance/international teaching (train, aeroplane) will be quoted from the relevant travel office. If the distance is great then the cost of overnight accommodation in a B&B will be necessary, though I am quite happy with a back bedroom or couch to cut costs.
